ORGANIC SUMMIT 2025: International Summit on Ecology in Copenhagen

Over two days, August 18-19, 2025, a wide range of international stakeholders within ecology and green transition will gather at the Black Diamond in Copenhagen for the Organic Summit 2025 (OS25).

Under the theme “Food for All on a Healthy Planet,” politicians, scientists, farmers, business representatives, and prominent voices from around the world will meet to highlight the role of ecology in the future global food supply and explore how organic practices can become an even stronger tool in the green transition of our agricultural and food systems.

Research-Based Contributions
ICROFS is co-organizing the summit, the aim of which is to produce a unified statement with specific recommendations on achieving the EU’s goal of 25 percent organic farmland by 2030. ICROFS is actively involved in planning the program and engaging speakers to present research-based insights on ways to boost organic production, expand the market for organic products, and leverage organic farming to meet green transition targets.

Politics, Research, Business, and Practical Approaches
The summit will feature tracks focused on politics, research, business, and practical approaches. Connie Hedegaard, former Minister of the Environment, former Minister for Climate and Energy, and the EU’s first Commissioner for Climate Action, is one of the keynote speakers and ambassador for the political track:

“Climate and other sustainability themes have been in the spotlight for a long time, but only in recent years have they really taken root, even among those who were once skeptical. The EU has set several goals for organic agriculture by 2030, so the time is now to bring together stakeholders across political lines, industries, and research fields to discuss how to ensure sustainable management of our global resources in the future.”

Peter Sisseck, winemaker and forest owner, is also an OS25 ambassador and keynote speaker:

“As food producers, we have a great responsibility to consider and develop sustainable solutions. Instead of seeing sustainability as a hindrance, we should view it as a new opportunity to create even higher quality products. OS25 is a unique opportunity to unite companies and stakeholders both within and beyond the organic sector to engage in dialogue and take action on how we can push forward. To me, it’s an investment in our shared future.”

Extensive Collaboration
The Organic Denmark association has initiated OS25, and the summit is held in collaboration with the City of Copenhagen, the Ministry for Green Transition, Danish Agriculture & Food Council Ecology, DI Food, the Royal Danish Library, ICROFS - International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems, Food Organisation of Denmark, Innovation Centre for Organic Farming, Food Nation Denmark, Vegetarian Society of Denmark, Animal Protection Denmark, DM, and Business Lolland-Falster.
