Organic RDD stands for 'Organic Research, Development, and Demonstration Programme' and is a Danish research programme targeting organic food systems. It is coordinated by ICROFS in collaboration with GUDP (Green Development and Demonstration Programme).
GUDP (Green Development and Demonstration Programme) calls for applications for the Organic Research, Development, and Demonstration Programme, known as Organic RDD, through separate application rounds. The call for applications is carried out in collaboration with ICROFS (International Centre for Research in Organic Farming and Food Systems).
The GUDP Board, in accordance with the GUDP Act, seeks recommendations from the ICROFS Board regarding focus areas etc. in connection with specific organic research initiatives.
The projects aim to support innovative, business-oriented thinking in the Danish organic food industry through green transformation. They should promote both green and economic sustainability.
As part of several initiatives within the field of organic agriculture, the Government and a broad majority in the Danish Folketinget have allocated DKK 55 million for organic research through the Organic RDD research programme. The programme is coordinated by ICROFS in collaboration with GUDP under the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries.
The funding supports the 11th round of the Organic RDD programme. The application round opened up on January 14, 2025, and the application deadline is May 6, 2025, at 12:00 noon. The call is open for applications for research projects that include development and/or demonstration components.
ICROFS' Research and Development Strategy forms the basis for the call and can be read here.
The strategy has been developed including broad input from businesses, industries, organisations, consumers, research communities and authorities. It addresses key challenges and potentials in organic farming and food systems and identifies the following six focus areas:
