ICROFS is looking for an academic employee to be the CORE Organic project manager 825241

The ERA-NET CORE Organic is funding trans-national research in organic food and farming across European countries, and is about to start up its fourth project period with cofunding from the European Commission. The coordinator is the Director of ICROFS and the project manager will assist the coordinator and will be responsible for the preparation and execution of the project plans, and management of the current project and a new project which is expected to start in December 2016.

Main tasks will include but not be limited to: 

  • Communicating with and servicing partners of the CORE Organic project 
  • Following up on and implementing strategy and decisions taken by members 
  • Preparation and execution of the project plans in collaboration with the work package leaders 
  • Servicing the chair and Management Board of CORE Organic 
  • Overall budget management and financial coordination 
  • Planning and organising meetings, preparing material and minutes 
  • Contribute to formulation of call texts 
  • Supporting the call office in implementation of joint trans-national calls for research projects 
  • Liaising with the European Commission, partners and stakeholders 
  • Monitoring and evaluating trans-national research projects in the food area, and be in lead of the monitoring team of 4 people 
  • Active participation in the Platform project, overarching ~20 ERA-NETs in the bioeconomy area 
  • Manage website and portals used in the project 
  • Representing CORE Organic and ICROFS at international events 

Some international travels must be expected, in average 1.5 travels per month. 

Minimum requirements 

  • Relevant advanced university degree 
  • At least 6 years of professional experience 
  • Knowledge of research and exposure to research environment 
  • Experience with research project management including budgeting 
  • Fluency in English, orally and written, and good writing and communication skills 
  • Service minded, able to accommodate multiple stakeholders 
  • Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks daily 
  • Good spirit 
  • High level of initiative and self-guidance and able to work result-oriented towards agreed goals and objectives 
  • Knowledge of principles of organic agriculture 

Preferable qualifications 

  • Experience with ERA-NETs, transnational project management and/or experience with preparation or evaluation of research proposals 
  • Good overview of research in organic food systems and/or needs of the organic sector 
  • International profile with experience from working outside country of origin 
  • Knowledge and interest in web-based communication

ICROFS is a centre without walls, focusing on facilitating and supporting research in organic agriculture and food systems in Denmark and internationally. ICROFS initiates, coordinates, and participates in national and international research activities and disseminate research results and new knowledge. The centre works with established research groups and universities internationally. ICROFS coordinates the ERA-net CORE Organic (Coordination of European Transnational Research in Organic Food and Farming), in which public funding bodies of 22 European countries collaborate to fund trans-national research projects.
