Survey on thematic priorities on sustainability
In the framework of the project “Further Development of Methologies for Sustainability Assessment and Monitoring in Organic/Ecological Agriculture“, which is funded by the Swedish Ekhaga Foundation, the Organic Research Centre and the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) are looking at the thematic priorities for the organic sector.
Sustainability is increasingly important for organic and non-organic businesses, but the metrics used to measure performance are diverse, ranging from improved energy efficiency (and associated reduced emissions and costs) to improving on-farm biodiversity.
The Organic Research Centre (UK) and the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL (CH) have had intensive discussions about how to measure the sustainability of organic farms, building on experience in developing monitoring tools.
A key part of the project involves identifying sustainability themes relevant for monitoring organic agriculture. Stakeholders of the organic movement are therefore asked to provide their views by filling in a questionnaire.
