IFOAM EU, the organic food and farming movement, invites you to the event 'Organic biogas: generating green energy in our regions'. This event will present the benefits of organic biogas production and policy-makers, researchers, farmers and energy companies will discuss the opportunities and barriers to sustainable biogas production.

Agriculture is responsible for 17% of our greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union. Reducing emissions from agriculture, producing energy on farms, ensuring a fair revenue for our rural areas and moving towards agroecology are important challenges for our regions. Biogas production can help meet all these challenges at the same time, provided it is sustainable and does not rely on energy crops. The final results of the SUSTAINGAS project, co-funded by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme of the European Union, will also be presented. The project SUSTAINGAS is implemented within the framework of the Intelligent Energy – Europe programme.

The conference is held 11 March 2015, 10:00-12:45,
Committee of the Regions - Rue Belliard 99-101, 1040 Brussels

Closing date for registration: 4th of march
