CORE Organic is the acronym for "Coordination of European Transnational Research in Organic Food and Farming Systems". As an ERA-NET action, it intends to increase cooperation between national research activities.

CORE Organic Cofund is the continuation of the ERA-Nets CORE Organic I, CORE Organic II and CORE Organic Plus. Compared to the previous CORE Organic ERA-Nets the Cofund and Plus ERA-Net benefit from an additional top-up funding by the European Commission.

CORE Organic Cofund was launced in December 2016. The CORE Organic Cofund consortium, including 26 partners from 19 countries, launched the new call supporting the European transnational organic research. 12 research proposals were selected for the funding. The selected project proposals where distributed across four thematic areas: 1) Plant production systems; 2) Animal feed; 3) Livestock systems and 4) Organic food processing. The planned project activities began spring 2018 and where implemented over the next three years.
